The Open Door

6 years ago, the vocalist of Mayonnaise, Monty Macalino, established a Record Label, Recording Studio, and a Music School under one name: The Yellow Room Music Philippines.

On the 10th and 11th of August 2019, Yellow Room had their 6th Anniversary through a 2-day celebration: a thanksgiving concert on the first day, and a music recital on the second day with special appearances of renowned artists such as, Sharlene San Pedro, Zack Tabudlo, and This Band. And on the thanksgiving concert, both uprising and popular artists were invited to perform, such as Kuatro Kantos, Crown of Thorns, Samputen, Southern Lights, Mntklya, Sleep Alley, Madeline, I Belong to the Zoo, Mojofly, and Mayonnaise. As if its door wasn't opened enough, Yellow Room opened it wider on that 2-day celebration by having it free of charge!

WHY WAS YELLOW ROOM CREATED?

To answer the why, here's an excerpt from Mayonnaise's set at Yellow Room's thanksgiving concert:

Monty: Maikling storya lang kung bakit nagkaron ng Yellow Room, dahil nagkaron ng pagkakataon na walang nakikinig sa bandang Mayonnaise, walang nanonood sa mga gigs namin-

Audience: aaawww...

Monty: aaww, pero wala naman kaming pakielam eh. 'Di kami tumutugtog dahil kailangan may tao. 'Di kami tumutugtog dahil kailangan may manonood. Hindi kami tumutugtog dahil kailangan may naniniwala, kasi kaya nagkaroon ng Yellow Room kasi walang ibang naniwala sa'min kundi sarili namin.

From Monty's own experiences as a passionate artist in the music industry, he knows how difficult it is to climb the mountain to continue doing the one thing they are passionate about -music. Through his passion and faith within himself he decided to be, if not the entire ladder, at least as one of the steps of the ladder to help aspiring artists climb the journey in creating and sharing their music. And through Yellow Room, he has been successful in helping both aspiring artists and renowned artists.

With the goal of helping, Yellow Room's door is open for all musicians and even to music enthusiasts. Us, Tangka, is one of those aspiring artists and music enthusiasts. We are a starting production made from scratch. Just like a stepping stone, Yellow Room had invited us to film and photograph their entire 6th Anniversary celebration, an opportunity we believe could skyrocket us above our dreams.
